Redefining Depth in Laparoscopy and Beyond
While conventional 2D imaging has revolutionized minimally invasive surgery, it is fundamentally limited by a lack of depth perception and spatial awareness. Existing 3D solutions often require cumbersome polarized glasses and high-cost hardware that restricts the immersive view to the primary surgeon alone, leaving the rest of the surgical team with limited situational awareness. This gap in visualization can increase the cognitive load on clinicians and hinder the precision required for the most delicate maneuvers.
To bridge this gap, Optosurgical is advancing the 3D Multi-Angle-View (3DMAV) approach by leveraging GPU-accelerated visualization to provide a side-angled topographical perspective. This software-driven innovation transforms existing single-camera platforms into immersive 3D environments without hardware modifications. Our multidisciplinary team has designed this system to offer real-time depth mapping and adjustable fields of view. This platform enhances spatial awareness, improves precision in delicate procedures, and ensures safer, more repeatable outcomes for patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery.
